Supervisor Training Practice

Do your supervisors have the skills and training to handle complex HR legal issues in their everyday dealings with employees? If not, an inadvertent mistake on hiring, termination, interviewing, FMLA, sexual harassment, or the Americans with Disabilities Act could turn into an embarrassing, expensive legal nightmare.

Like the hunter who must have clear sight from gun to target, learners (and other stakeholders) must be clear about how the learning intervention will help them hit the goal. The learning tool, whether that is training, coaching, internship, etc., has maximum impact when it is aligned with the business priorities of an organization.

For example, there is alignment when content and process of a diversity workshop contributes to attracting, retaining, and promoting all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, and background (assuming that is the organization’s goal).

Learning in organizations should not be a solitary activity, at least not if you want employees to apply what they learned to their work and to achieving the strategic goals of the organization.

Many training programs put employees through workshops, seminars, product demonstrations, and e-learning without practicing application of the new knowledge and skills. Imagine trying to learn to play the piano, improve your golf swing, or make a chocolate soufflé…without practicing.

To train supervisors and managers effectively, you need a program that’s easy for you to deliver and that requires little time out of busy schedules. Also, if you're like most companies in these tight budget days, you need a program that’s reasonable in cost.

Why write your own New Supervisor Training Program or an Employee Handbook when it's done for you? Pre-written course ware saves you time and money and helps you better prepare for classroom training with well-researched and proven course materials.  (ModernManagers.com HR in a Box)
